VENICE
This four-day itinerary discovers
the typical scenery of the Venice lagoon.
Once away from the traditional circuits
among the most famous islands, you are plunged
into the most typical places of lagoon life.
Thursday:
embarkation at 18.00 at the island of Certosa
and overnight on the boat.
Friday:
sail towards the south across the lagoon,
around the coast of Poveglia, stopping at
San Pietro in Volta and Pellestrina. You
reach Chioggia in the evening for dinner
in a typical restaurant.
Saturday:
visit to Chioggia then towards the north
and back into the lagoon through the Lido
inlet. Night at anchor near Burano or in
the Treporti marina.
Sunday: sail
among the salt marshes, stopping to visit
the islands of Burano and Torcello. Back
to the island of Certosa for 16.00.
This itinerary immerses you immediately
in the heart of the lagoon. After sailing
from Venice and around the coasts of islands
such as San Servolo, San Clemente and Poveglia,
you pass among old abandoned Austrian powder
magazines and the fishermen's villages of
San Pietro in Volta and Pellestrina. You
can see the peociere, the traditional mussel
farms, and casoni, the typical fishermen's
huts on piles which rise up from the shallows.
In the evening you reach an elegant new
marina at Chioggia where you can dine in
one of the numerous restaurants offering
fresh fish and traditional local dishes.
Taking advantage of the morning breeze,
leave Chioggia and, while the fishing boats
are coming back from their night's fishing,
head out to sea to sail towards the north,
to Venice. Re-entering the lagoon through
the Lido inlet, you can find safe moorings
near Treporti, to then go on to Burano where
you can moor and go ashore for sunset among
the brightly coloured fishermen's houses
on the island.
The following day, a walk among the alleyways
of Burano is a must, then after a brief
trip among the salt marshes, a visit to
the historic beauties of Torcello.
Made richer by the treasures of the lagoon,
its landscapes, nature and history, return
through the channels and canals towards
the island of Certosa.
